The common uses are a storm check, where an agent reads the weather alerts and the forecast for a client’s site and acts through your RMM, and an outage check, where an agent reads the weather at a site when its server or internet went offline.
Automatically enabled when you configure OpenWeather permissions in your agent workflow.

What it does

  • Turn a site’s address from your PSA into coordinates with OpenWeather’s geocoding
  • Read the government weather alerts for the site (agency, event, start and end), the weather now, and the hourly and daily forecast
  • Read the weather at the site at a past time, such as when a device went offline
  • Read air quality, fire danger, lightning, road risk, solar and wind data, as your OpenWeather plan allows
  • Read and change your OpenWeather account’s weather stations and their measurements, saved solar locations and panels, and history-archive locations, as the permission groups allow
OpenWeather only reads weather. To shut a server down or put a device in maintenance mode when a storm comes, the agent uses your RMM tools. Neo adds your API key to each call and removes it from every answer.

Safety Controls

Neo does not fetch images or compressed files, which an agent cannot read: map tiles, weather icons and bulk downloads.
