The Neo AI Agent is Neo’s own Slack app, the Slack counterpart of the Neo AI Agent app in Microsoft Teams. You install it once in your own Slack workspace. Your technicians then:
  • chat with the Neo Support Agent in Slack, the same way they would in Teams;
  • get approval cards in a direct message or in a Slack channel you pick, and approve or reject them there;
  • get Notify Internal Team messages and the messages your agents send to the team, as a direct message or in a channel.
The app carries Neo’s name and icon. To give your technicians a Chat Agent you build, with your own branding, use an Internal channel on Slack instead. Your clients’ employees use a different app again: see Deploy your end-user Slack bot.

Connect your workspace

Only a dashboard Owner or Admin can connect or disconnect Slack. You connect it on the dashboard only: the public API cannot make the install link, and the Neo Support Agent sends you to the Integrations page to do it.
1

Open the tile

Open Integrations → Slack — Neo AI Agent and click Connect Slack. Slack opens in the same browser tab.
2

Approve the install in Slack

Sign in to Slack with the same email as your dashboard account, pick your workspace, and click Allow.Neo checks the confirmed email on your Slack profile: it must belong to an active member of this dashboard. If Slack has not confirmed the email, or no active dashboard member has it, Neo refuses the install and removes the app from Slack again. The person who installs needs permission to install apps in the workspace.
3

Back in the dashboard

Slack sends you to a page that says whether the install worked. Click Back to Integrations. The tile now shows the connected workspace, when it was connected, and the Slack user who installed it.
Your technicians find Neo under Apps in the Slack sidebar.

Limits

  • One Slack workspace per Neo account, and one Neo account per Slack workspace. To move to a different workspace, disconnect the current one first. Then pick the Slack people and channels again in your agents and workflows: the ones from the old workspace do not carry over.
  • On Slack Enterprise Grid, install the app into one workspace. An install for the whole organization is refused.
  • The install link from Connect Slack works for one hour.
If the install fails, the page shows why: for example, the Slack email matches no dashboard user, or the workspace is already connected to another Neo account.

Who Neo answers

Neo answers the full members of your workspace, as the Neo Support Agent’s Who can chat with the agent setting allows. It refuses guests and Slack Connect users from other organizations with a short message, and starts no conversation for them. Neo links a Slack user to a technician by email only, never by name: the email of the technician’s Microsoft sign-in, or their PSA email when they have no Microsoft account. To see the link, open a technician on the Technicians page and choose the Microsoft & Slack tab. You cannot set the link by hand. If it is wrong or missing, fix the email, then click Match again on that tab; it says why a technician stays unlinked. Neo also matches again after each technician sync. Approval cards to a proposed technician and Notify messages to a ticket’s owner or resources use the stored links, so a new technician gets them in Slack only after the next match. Details: Slack links.

Approvals and notifications in Slack

Once the workspace is connected, the approver and recipient pickers in the agent and workflow builders also list the Slack users and Slack channels of that workspace. See Approvals in Slack and Notify Internal Team. To post in a private channel, add the Neo AI Agent app to it in Slack first.

Disconnect

On the tile, click Disconnect, then Disconnect it. Neo stops answering in the workspace, stops sending approval cards and notifications to Slack, and asks Slack to remove the app. If the app still shows in Slack, a Slack admin can remove it. Approval cards, and messages to the Slack people and channels you picked from this workspace, fail. They work again when you connect the same workspace. If you set up your own Slack notification app, Neo posts to a typed channel ID through that app again.

Your own Slack notification app

Before the Neo AI Agent, Neo posted to Slack through an app you created yourself, set up on the Slack — Notifications (own app) tile with a bot token (Slack). That setup keeps working. Once the Neo AI Agent is connected, Neo sends through the Neo AI Agent app instead.
