You connect Paycor once at the MSP level, with your own application in the Paycor Developer Portal.

Before you start

  • You need a Paycor Developer Portal account. A Paycor client admin at your company invites you to developers.paycor.com.
  • Activating the application takes a Paycor Perform Company, Payroll or HR Admin.

1. Build the application

In the Developer Portal, open AppCreator and create a Standard application named Neo. On its Data Access tab, tick the APIs the agents need. For the utilization report and HR lookups, tick at least:
  • View Legal Entity Employees, with its Employment Dates, Status, Position and Work Location options, and View Employee Information
  • View Employee Time Card Hours By Legal Entity Id, View Employee Time Card Hours and View Employee Time Card Punches By Legal Entity Id
  • View Legal Entity Departments Information and View Legal Entity Work Locations
Tick more only for the jobs you plan, such as time off requests or pay data. Each save of Data Access makes a new scope, which needs a new activation (step 2). On the Security Connections tab, copy the Application OAuth Client ID, the Application OAuth Client Secret and the Application APIm Subscription Key. Paycor shows the Client Secret when it creates or regenerates it; it expires every 365 days. Follow Paycor’s Simple Client Activation in the Developer Portal: a Paycor Company, Payroll or HR Admin signs in, selects the application and your legal entities (all of one Paycor company), and agrees. The portal then shows an Access Token and a Refresh Token. Copy the Refresh Token.

3. Save it in Neo

1

Open Integrations

In the Neo Dashboard, open Integrations and find the Paycor card, under HR & Business Apps.
2

Save the application

Choose the Environment (Production, or Sandbox for a Paycor test company), enter the Client ID, the Client Secret, the APIm Subscription Key and the Refresh Token, and click Save settings. Neo signs in to Paycor before saving, so a wrong value is rejected straight away.
Neo keeps the connection alive from then on. Paycor issues a new Refresh Token each time Neo renews the connection, so the token works for Neo alone: never paste it into another program. If the Client Secret expires, is regenerated, or the activation is removed, Neo stops reaching Paycor and sends you a message in the dashboard. Activate the application again (step 2) and save the new Refresh Token, with the new Client Secret if you made one.

4. Turn Paycor on per agent

Open the agent, go to the Integrations section, and pick an access profile for the Paycor block, or set each area yourself: Each area can be Disabled, Read Only or Read / Write. See Paycor API for the profiles and what the agent can read and change.
