Veeam Backup & Replication is the backup server installed at a client’s site, or in your own hosted environment. It runs the client’s backup, replication and copy jobs, keeps their backups in repositories, and restores machines and files. Connect it for a client, and Neo agents can work that client’s backup tickets on the server itself.

What Neo can do with Veeam Backup & Replication

  • Read every job’s last result, its sessions, and each machine’s result and error in a session
  • Start, stop and retry a job, and enable or disable it
  • Read each repository’s capacity and free space, and the machines each job protects with their newest restore points
  • Start an instant recovery, an entire VM restore or a file restore, which asks a technician first under the Helpdesk and IT Admin presets
  • Read malware events on backups, Veeam Agents and their protection groups, the server’s version and license

One connection per client

A backup server holds one client’s jobs, so you connect Veeam Backup & Replication once for each client, under that client’s company in your PSA. On a ticket, the agent calls the backup server of the ticket’s company. A scheduled agent or a chat names the client in each call. A backup server that backs up several clients, such as one in your own hosted environment, is connected under the company whose tickets should reach it, usually your own. Every call on it reaches all of its jobs. If you also use Veeam Service Provider Console, connect it as well: its alarms and its view across every client come from the console, and the work on one server’s jobs, repositories and restores comes from this connection. See Veeam Backup & Replication API for the permission groups.
