Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 (formerly Veeam Backup for Office 365) backs up your customers’ Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams to a server you run. Neo connects to that server’s REST API. Connect it, and Neo agents can work backup tickets from start to end, report licence and storage use per customer, and restore a lost email or file once a technician approves. If Veeam Service Provider Console manages your server, its own Neo tile also reads and reruns your Microsoft 365 jobs. Connect this tile for everything the console does not do through its API: job sessions and their logs, protected objects, licence use per customer, and item restores.

What Neo can do with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365

  • Read each backup job, its last status and its sessions, with the log and each mailbox, OneDrive, site or team the session processed
  • Start, stop, enable and disable backup and backup copy jobs, and read whether the next run succeeds
  • Read the users, groups, sites and teams each organization protects, and resync an organization with Microsoft 365
  • Read licences used per organization and repository space used, capacity and free space
  • Search a customer’s backups for a lost email, file or Teams post and restore it to where it was, after a technician signs in for the restore

Your organizations are mapped to PSA companies

Neo matches each Microsoft 365 organization on your server to a company in your PSA and keeps the mapping on the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 card’s Organization Mapping tab, refreshed on each PSA metadata sync. Matching first uses the organization’s Microsoft tenant id: when a PSA company carries the same Microsoft 365 tenant, the match is exact. Then it uses the organization’s name, exact and then after stripping spaces, case and a legal-form suffix. An AI match handles the long tail. A name two of your PSA companies share, or two organizations that match the same company, gets no name match: at most an AI suggestion, which waits for you to confirm it. A tenant or name match, or one you confirm, is handed straight to your agents. An AI match is not handed to your agents automatically. It shows on the Organization Mapping tab, where you can confirm or correct it. On a ticket, an agent reaches only the organization mapped to the ticket’s company. A call Neo cannot tie to that one organization, such as your repositories, proxies, licence or settings, is for runs with no ticket company, such as a scheduled check or a chat. See Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 API for the permission groups.
