The Department for Education (DfE) publishes England’s official education statistics through its Explore education statistics API. Connect it, and Neo reads them: the publications, their data sets, and the rows of each data set. The school census data set holds the number of pupils on roll at each school in England, found by the school’s URN.

What Neo can do with DfE Education Statistics

  • Run a scheduled agent once a month that reads the pupils on roll at each of your school clients and writes the number to the PSA record you bill them from, such as a recurring invoice, a contract or a field on the client
  • Read a school’s pupil numbers for a technician, on a ticket or in a chat
  • Report which schools’ numbers changed when DfE publishes a new school census
See DfE Education Statistics API for the permission group. DfE publishes the school census once a year, usually in June, for the January census. A monthly agent reads the same number until DfE publishes the next one, and writes only when a number changed. The data covers schools in England. The API lists every school in England, not your clients, so there is no company mapping to set up. Store each school’s URN on its client in your PSA, or name it in the agent’s instructions.
