# Connecting XWiki to Neo

> Create a local XWiki account for Neo and save your wiki's address, user name and password

You connect XWiki once at the MSP level, with your wiki's address and a local XWiki account for Neo.

## 1. Make the wiki reachable

Neo calls your wiki's REST API over the internet, at `https://<your wiki>/xwiki/rest`. The wiki must answer over HTTPS with a certificate from a public authority. If it is internal today, publish only the `/rest` path through a reverse proxy, and allow only Neo's addresses: see [IP whitelisting](https://docs.neoagent.io/integrations/ip-whitelisting.md).

If a web server sits in front of XWiki, it must pass the `Authorization` header through to XWiki.

## 2. Create an account for Neo

Neo signs in with HTTP Basic, the user name and password of a **local** XWiki account. A single sign-on account (Microsoft Entra, OpenID Connect, LDAP through a proxy) has no password XWiki checks, so it does not work.

**1. Create the user**

In XWiki, open **Administer Wiki > Users & Rights > Users** and create a user for Neo, such as `neo-agent`, with a strong password.

**2. Give it view rights**

Under **Rights**, give the user **View** on the wiki, or on the spaces Neo should read.

**3. Give it edit rights where Neo writes**

Create the space drafts go in, such as `AIDrafts`, and give the user **Edit** on that space only. Give it no **Script**, **Admin** or **Programming** right.

XWiki answers a wrong password on a read as if no one had signed in, with empty results. Neo reads who XWiki says it answered as, and stops with an error instead of reporting that nothing is documented.

## 3. Add the account in Neo

**1. Open Integrations**

In the Neo Dashboard, open **Integrations** and find the XWiki card, under Documentation.

**2. Save the settings**

Enter the address you open the wiki at, including its context path, such as `https://wiki.example.com/xwiki`, then the user name and password, and click **Save settings**. Neo signs in to check them before saving, so a wrong address or password is rejected straight away.

## 4. Turn XWiki on per agent

Open the agent, go to the Integrations section, and pick an access profile for the XWiki block, or set each area yourself:

| Area | Access levels you can pick | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| **Pages** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | Search and read pages. Read / Write creates new pages only |
| **Page Changes** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | History and versions. Read / Write changes or deletes existing pages |
| **Comments & Annotations** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | Comments and annotations on pages |
| **Attachments** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | Files on pages. Neo reads and uploads text files |
| **Objects & Classes** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | Structured data on pages, classes and Live Data |
| **Users & Notifications** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | Users, Neo's own notifications and page watches, server job status |

To read everything and draft new pages without changing any existing page, set **Pages** to Read / Write and every other area to Read Only.

See [XWiki API](https://docs.neoagent.io/agents/tools/documentation/xwiki-api.md) for the profiles and what the agent can read and change.
