# Connecting Uniview to Neo

> Save a Uniview API credential in Neo and turn it on for the agents that handle backup alerts

You connect Uniview once at the MSP level, then turn it on per agent.

## 1. Create an API credential

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open API Access">
    Sign in to the Uniview portal, click the settings icon, and open **API Access**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create the credential">
    Click **+ New**, give the credential a name such as "Neo", and click **Save**. Copy the **Client ID** and the **Client Secret**. The secret is shown only once.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## 2. Add the credential in Neo

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Integrations">
    In the Neo Dashboard, open **Integrations** and find the Uniview Backup card, under Backup & Recovery.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save the credential">
    Paste the Client ID and the Client Secret and click **Save**. Neo checks them against Uniview before saving, so a wrong or deleted credential is rejected straight away. The **Organization Mapping** tab fills separately after the save, and again on each nightly PSA sync.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## 3. Turn Uniview on per agent

Open the agent, go to the Integrations section, and configure the Uniview block. The **Read Only** profile turns on every area. To leave an area out, set it to Disabled:

| Area | Access levels you can pick | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| **Customers** | Disabled, Read Only | The clients in your portal. |
| **Backups** | Disabled, Read Only | Endpoints, appliance-protected assets, backup jobs and appliances. This is the area a backup-failure agent needs. |
| **BackupIQ Alerts** | Disabled, Read Only | BackupIQ alerts. |
| **Microsoft 365 Backup** | Disabled, Read Only | Spanning tenants and users, and Entra ID tenants. |

## Example: close backup alerts that have recovered

Give an agent that runs on your backup-alert tickets the Uniview **Read Only** profile and instructions like these:

> For a backup-failure ticket, look up the device in Uniview. If it has a successful backup later than the alert, add a note with the backup time and close the ticket. If the device was offline, note when it was last online and leave the ticket open. Otherwise, assign the ticket to the backup queue with what you found.

See [Uniview API](/agents/tools/backup/uniview-api) for what the agent can read.
