# Connecting SIGNL4 to Neo

> Make a SIGNL4 API key and save it in Neo

You connect SIGNL4 once at the MSP level, with one API key for your SIGNL4 subscription.

## 1. Make the API key

In the SIGNL4 web portal, open **Integrations > API Keys** (some SIGNL4 guides show it under **Teams > Developer > API Keys**) and create a key for Neo. Copy it when SIGNL4 shows it.

Neo calls SIGNL4 with the key in the `X-S4-Api-Key` header. The key is not your team's webhook secret: Neo never needs the webhook URL.

## 2. Add the key in Neo

**1. Open Integrations**

In the Neo Dashboard, open **Integrations** and find the SIGNL4 card, under Communication.

**2. Save the key**

Paste the API key and click **Save settings**. Neo checks it against SIGNL4 before saving, so a wrong or revoked key is rejected straight away.

## 3. Turn SIGNL4 on per agent

Open the agent, go to the Integrations section, and pick an access profile for the SIGNL4 block, or set each area yourself:

| Area | Access levels you can pick | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| **Alerts & Events** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | Raise, read, acknowledge and close alerts. Read / Write for an agent that pages; Read Only for the agent that writes the response times. |
| **On-Call Duty & Shifts** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | Duty status, schedules, shifts, absences. |
| **Users, Teams & Access** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | Users, teams, memberships. Read Only lets the agent name who acknowledged. |
| **Alert Setup & Routing** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | Categories, signaling patterns, templates, workflows. |
| **Connectors, Webhooks & Remote Actions** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | Connector apps, outbound webhooks, remote actions. |
| **Subscription, Billing & Audit** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | Subscription, licences, invoices, prepaid balance, audit log. |

The agents also need their PSA permissions: adding internal notes on tickets, and reading the ticket's notes for the response times. See [SIGNL4 API](/agents/tools/communication/signl4-api) for the profiles and what the agent can read and change.
