# Connecting Petra Security to Neo

> Create a Petra Security API key and save it in Neo

You connect Petra Security once at the MSP level. One API key from your Petra organization covers every client tenant in it.

## 1. Create the API key

Only a Petra **Admin** can create an API key.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open API Keys">
    Sign in to [Petra](https://app.petrasecurity.com), open **Settings**, and click the **API Keys** tab.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create the key">
    Click **Create API Key**, enter a description such as Neo, and click **Create API Key** in the dialog.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Copy the key">
    Copy the key. Petra shows it only once.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  When the key is deleted in Petra, Neo loses access until you save a new key here.
</Warning>

## 2. Add the key in Neo

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Integrations">
    In the Neo Dashboard, open **Integrations** and find the Petra Security card, under Security.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save the key">
    Paste the API key and click **Save settings**. Neo checks it against Petra before saving, so a wrong or deleted key is rejected straight away.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## 3. Turn Petra Security on per agent

Open the agent, go to the Integrations section, and pick the Read Only profile for the Petra Security block, or set each area yourself:

| Area | Access levels you can pick | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| **Tenants and Usage** | Disabled, Read Only | Your tenants, their usage and billing status, and each tenant's billable users. Turn on for a billing agent. |
| **Incidents** | Disabled, Read Only | Account-compromise incidents. Turn on for an agent that works compromise tickets. |
| **Failed Attacks** | Disabled, Read Only | Failed sign-in attacks per tenant. Turn on for a QBR agent. |
| **Posture Reports** | Disabled, Read Only | Microsoft 365 posture reports per tenant. Turn on for a QBR or review agent. |

Petra allows 10 calls a minute to each kind of read, and Neo keeps to it.

See [Petra Security API](/agents/tools/security/petra-api) for what the agent can read.
