# Connecting OnSIP to Neo

> Save a client's OnSIP Account Admin user in Neo and turn OnSIP on per agent

You connect OnSIP once for each client that uses it, with an OnSIP user that is an **Account Admin** of the client's OnSIP account. OnSIP's Admin API signs in with the same user name and password as the [OnSIP admin portal](https://admin.onsip.com), and has no API keys.

## 1. Pick the OnSIP user

**1. Use an Account Admin**

Use the client's account administrator, or better, an OnSIP user made for Neo that has the **Account Admin** role. Neo reads the account's users, phones and numbers with it, so a standard user cannot connect.

**2. Turn off emailed sign-in codes for that user**

Neo signs in with no person present, so it cannot type a code OnSIP emails. If the account sends sign-in codes by email, turn them off for the user Neo uses.

> [!NOTE]
>
> If you resell OnSIP as an agent, each client is its own OnSIP account with its own admin user. Connect each client with that client's admin.

## 2. Add the user in Neo

**1. Open Integrations**

In the Neo Dashboard, open [**Integrations** → **OnSIP**](https://dashboard.neoagent.io/integrations?open=onsip), under Phone & VoIP.

**2. Pick the client**

In **Customer**, choose the client this OnSIP account belongs to. The client must be on your **Companies** tab. For a second client, click **Add customer**.

**3. Save**

Enter the **Admin user name** in full, such as `admin@example.onsip.com`, and the **Admin password**, then click **Save settings**. Neo signs in to OnSIP before saving: a wrong password, a user that is no Account Admin, or a user with emailed sign-in codes is rejected straight away.

> [!WARNING]
>
> If someone changes that user's password in OnSIP, save the new one here. Neo loses access to that client's OnSIP account until you do.

## 3. Turn OnSIP on per agent

Open the agent, go to its **Tools & Settings** tab, click **Phone & VoIP**, and expand the **OnSIP** block. Pick a preset, or set each area yourself:

| Area | Access levels | Covers |
| - | - | - |
| **Account & Billing** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | Account status, contact, prepaid balance and transactions, invoices, auto recharge, adding credit |
| **Organizations, Domains & Webhooks** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | Each SIP domain with its status, caller ID and registration limit; webhook subscriptions; InstaCall buttons |
| **Users** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | Users, their status, contact and caller ID; adding and removing a user; emailing a password reset link |
| **Admin Roles** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | Giving or taking the Account Admin and Organization Admin roles |
| **Extensions & Call Routing** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | SIP addresses with do not disturb, ring time and failover, aliases, forwarding, ring groups, voicemail boxes, queues, attendant menus, time switches, blocked numbers |
| **Phones & Registrations** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | Phones, their lines and SIP registrations, E911 locations, a test call |
| **Phone Numbers** | Disabled, Read Only, Read / Write | Numbers, where each rings and its caller ID name; ordering and deleting a number |
| **Call History & Queue Reports** | Disabled, Read Only | Call and session records, monthly summaries, queue and agent reports |

| Preset | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Read Only** | Reads everything and changes nothing |
| **Helpdesk** | Reads everything; user, extension, phone and number changes ask a technician first |
| **IT Admin** | Changes users, extensions, phones and numbers on its own; account, domain and admin role changes ask a technician first |
| **Full Automation** | Every change with no approval, apart from the ones below |

These always ask a technician, whatever the preset: adding credit, auto recharge, adding an account or an organization, moving a domain or turning its authentication on or off, a new webhook subscription, ordering or deleting a phone number, a change to a user's contact details (their email is where OnSIP sends password resets), and any change that sets a password (such as a new user). Neo does not reset or change an existing user's portal password: to reset one, it emails the user OnSIP's reset link. A new user's password is the one the agent sends with the request, after a technician approves it. Passwords and phone encryption keys in OnSIP's answers never reach the agent.

See [OnSIP API](https://docs.neoagent.io/agents/tools/communication/onsip-api.md) for what the agent can do.
