# ELMO

> Let Neo agents read and update staff records in your clients' ELMO

ELMO is the HR, payroll and onboarding software many organizations in Australia and New Zealand run on. Each of your clients that uses it has its own ELMO company. Connect ELMO for those clients, and Neo agents can look up and update their staff while they handle a ticket.

## What Neo can do with ELMO

* Look up a staff member's manager, department, position, location, start date and end date
* Act on an HR change of manager form: read the new manager in ELMO, then update the user's manager and fields in Microsoft Entra and the SharePoint list you keep for the client
* Find a new starter in ELMO onboarding, and read the details their accounts need
* Create and update ELMO users, and activate or deactivate them
* Read and update departments, locations and positions

With the matching permission groups on, agents can also read personal contact details, employment and payroll details, leave and recruitment candidates. See [ELMO API](https://docs.neoagent.io/agents/tools/management/elmo-api.md) for the permission groups and profiles.

## One connection per client

ELMO API credentials belong to one ELMO company, so you connect ELMO once for each client that uses it, and the connection belongs to that client's company in Neo. On a ticket that belongs to a company, the agent reaches only that company's connection. Otherwise (a chat, a scheduled agent, or a ticket with no company) it names the client it works for, and Neo accepts only a company on your Companies tab.
