# Connecting ClickUp to Neo

> Create a ClickUp personal API token and save it in Neo

You connect ClickUp once at the MSP level, with a personal API token.

## 1. Create a personal API token in ClickUp

**1. Pick the account**

Neo acts as the ClickUp user who makes the token: it sees only the Spaces, Folders, Lists, tasks and Docs that user can open, in every Workspace the user belongs to. Use a dedicated ClickUp member for Neo, ideally a shared service account rather than a person's own, and give it access to the parts of your Workspace Neo should work in and no more. Every task Neo creates or comments on shows that user as its author.

**2. Generate the token**

Signed in as that user, click your avatar, then **Settings** > **Apps**. Under **API Token**, click **Generate**. A ClickUp personal token starts with `pk_` and does not expire.

**3. Copy the token**

Click **Copy**. Clicking **Regenerate** later ends this token, and Neo then needs the new one.

## 2. Add the token in Neo

**1. Open Integrations**

Open [**Integrations → ClickUp**](https://dashboard.neoagent.io/integrations?open=clickup) in the Neo Dashboard. The card is under Project Management.

**2. Save the token**

Paste the **Personal API Token** and click **Save**. Neo checks the token with ClickUp before it saves, so a wrong token is rejected straight away.

## 3. Turn ClickUp on per agent

Open the agent from [**Agents**](https://dashboard.neoagent.io/agents), go to its **Tools & Settings** tab, click **Project Management**, and expand the **ClickUp** block. Pick a preset, then change any group: each group can be Disabled, Read Only or Read / Write, and a Read / Write group can ask a technician before each change.

In the agent's instructions, name the Space, Folder or List it works in. To start the agent on ClickUp changes, run it on a schedule and tell it which changes to act on.

### Changes that always ask a technician

Whatever the profile: deleting a Space, a Folder or a List, every change to members, guests, user groups, guest access and sharing, making a Space, a Doc or a Chat channel open to more people, and creating or updating a webhook.

### Request limits

ClickUp allows 100 API requests a minute per token on its Free, Unlimited and Business plans, and more on Business Plus and Enterprise. Neo keeps to 100 a minute for each MSP.

See [ClickUp API](https://docs.neoagent.io/agents/tools/management/clickup-api.md) for what each profile does.
