# Connecting Acronis to Neo

> Create an Acronis API client in your partner tenant and save it in Neo

You connect Acronis once at the partner level. One API client made in your partner tenant covers every customer tenant under it.

## 1. Create the API client

An Acronis API client has the access of the administrator who creates it, in that tenant and every tenant under it. Create it as a partner administrator. A customer in self-service mode stays out of reach until its administrator allows support access.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open API clients">
    Sign in to the Acronis management portal as a partner administrator and open **Settings** > **API clients**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create the client">
    Click **Create API client**, name it Neo, and click **Next**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Copy the values">
    Copy the **Client ID**, the **Secret** and the **Data center URL** (for example `https://eu2-cloud.acronis.com`). Acronis shows the secret only once.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  When the administrator who made the client loses access, or someone resets or deletes the client, Neo loses access until you save a new client here.
</Warning>

## 2. Add the client in Neo

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Integrations">
    In the Neo Dashboard, open **Integrations** and find the Acronis card, under Backup & Recovery.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save the client">
    Paste the data center URL, the client ID and the secret, and click **Save settings**. Neo signs in to Acronis with them before saving, so a wrong value is rejected straight away.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## 3. Turn Acronis on per agent

Open the agent, go to the Integrations section, and pick an access profile for the Acronis block, or set each area yourself. An EDR agent needs EDR Incidents, and EDR Response Actions to respond; a backup agent needs Alerts and Events, Tasks and Activities, Protection Plans, Workloads and Agents, and Backups, Archives and Vaults.

| Profile | What runs on its own | What asks a technician |
| - | - | - |
| **Read Only** | Every read | No write is allowed |
| **Helpdesk** | Most reads, incident triage and alert changes | Response actions, plan runs and changes, and user changes |
| **IT Admin** | Every read, and most changes outside [Safety Controls](/agents/tools/backup/acronis-api#safety-controls) | Response actions, customer, role, billing, sales and storage changes, and the changes in [Safety Controls](/agents/tools/backup/acronis-api#safety-controls) |
| **Full Automation** | Every read and write outside [Safety Controls](/agents/tools/backup/acronis-api#safety-controls) | The changes in [Safety Controls](/agents/tools/backup/acronis-api#safety-controls) |

See [Acronis API](/agents/tools/backup/acronis-api) for each group and what the agent can read and change.
