# Stop the turn running on a chat session

> Stops the agent turn currently running on this session. The running agent refuses its next tool call, so an action it has not taken yet does not happen, and the run itself is ended — anything queued behind the stopped turn is dropped too.

Use this whenever a surface's own stop control is pressed: aborting the SSE tail on your side only stops *you* receiving the reply, while the agent keeps running and may still write.

Applies to whatever turn is live, which is not necessarily the one answering the most recent message. Idempotent, and a no-op on an idle session, so a caller never has to check whether a turn is running first. `stopped` reports whether a live run was signalled; `false` means there was nothing left to signal.

    Neo's public contract for the dashboard ChatAgent, partner integrations, and
    MSP automation. Every response is wrapped in a `{data, meta}` envelope;
    errors use `{error: {code, message, details?}, meta: {request_id}}`.
    Authenticate with a `Bearer neo_sk_<env>_<secret>` API key (service account)
    or a Microsoft Entra ID JWT (dashboard user). Signed-URL endpoints (end-user
    feedback links) take a `signature` query parameter instead.
