# Pushover API

> Page your technicians from a ticket with Pushover, check that each urgent page was acknowledged, and manage the on-call group and team

The common use is an urgent ticket: an agent pages the on-call technician with an emergency message that repeats until someone acknowledges it, checks the receipt, and escalates when nobody acknowledged it.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Automatically enabled when you configure Pushover permissions in your agent workflow, or on a dashboard.

## What It Does

* Send a message at any priority, including an emergency message that repeats until acknowledged, with a title, a link, a sound and tags
* Read an emergency message's receipt: acknowledged or not, by whom, on which device, when, and whether it expired
* Stop an emergency message repeating, by receipt or by tag
* List delivery groups and their members; add, remove, pause and resume a member; create and rename a group
* Read your Pushover for Teams team; add a member, remove one, revoke an invitation
* Read the monthly message quota, sounds and license credits; check a user key; assign a license; update a Glances widget

## Permission Groups

| Group | Covers |
| - | - |
| Messages & Glances | Send messages at any priority, including emergency messages that repeat until acknowledged; sounds, the monthly message quota, user and group key checks, and Glances widget updates |
| Emergency Receipts | An emergency message's receipt (acknowledged, by whom, on which device, when, expired) and cancelling its retries, by receipt or by tag |
| Delivery Groups | Delivery groups and their members: list, create and rename groups; add, remove, pause and resume a member |
| Team Members | Pushover for Teams: the team and its members; add a member, remove one, and revoke a pending invitation. Needs the team API token |
| Licenses & Subscriptions | License credits left, assigning a license to a user (paid, and permanent), and moving a user key to a subscription key |

## Access Profiles

| Profile | What runs on its own | What asks a technician |
| - | - | - |
| **Read Only** | Every read | No write is allowed |
| **Helpdesk** | Every read, sending pages and stopping them | Changes to delivery groups and team members; licenses are read only |
| **IT Admin** | Every read and write outside team members and licenses | Adding or removing team members, and assigning a license |
| **Full Automation** | Every read and write | Nothing |

## Safety Controls

| Control | Behavior |
| - | - |
| **No acknowledgement for a technician** | Neo never acknowledges a page, and never uses Pushover's Open Client API, which signs in with a person's own password |
| **No passwords** | Neo never sets a team member's password; Pushover emails the new member one |
| **Tokens** | Neo adds the token to each call and removes it from every answer; the agent never sees it |
| **No resend** | Neo never resends a message after an error, because Pushover may have sent it already |
