# Uniview API

> Read backup status from the Uniview portal (Unitrends and Kaseya backup) so an agent can confirm a backup failure and close the ticket once the device backs up again

The Uniview API tool gives Neo agents read access to the Uniview portal at backup.net, which covers Unitrends appliances, Kaseya endpoint backup and Spanning Microsoft 365 backup. The common use is a backup-failure ticket: the agent finds the device, checks whether it has backed up since the alert, and closes the ticket or explains why it is still failing.

<Info>
  Automatically enabled when you configure Uniview permissions in your agent workflow.
</Info>

## What It Does

* Find an endpoint by its device name and read its last successful backup, its online status and when it was last online
* Read the backup jobs of a server or VM protected by a Unitrends appliance, newest first, with their status and replication status
* List BackupIQ alerts by client, device, job and severity
* Check appliances for free space and online status
* Read the last Microsoft 365 backup of a tenant or one user
* Find the client from the [Organization Mapping](/integrations/uniview/overview#your-clients-are-mapped-automatically), or by name

The Uniview API is read-only. Neo cannot start, retry or dismiss anything in Uniview; when a backup is still failing, the agent reports what it found.

## How the agent checks a backup failure

The agent reads the device name and the alert time from the ticket and looks the device up. If the device has a successful backup later than the alert, the failure has recovered. If the device was offline, the agent says when it was last online, because a device that is off cannot back up. If more than one device could match, the agent lists them and asks instead of guessing.

## Permission Groups

| Group | Access levels | Covers |
| - | - | - |
| Customers | Disabled, Read Only | The clients in your portal |
| Backups | Disabled, Read Only | Endpoints, appliance-protected assets, backup jobs and appliances |
| BackupIQ Alerts | Disabled, Read Only | BackupIQ alerts |
| Microsoft 365 Backup | Disabled, Read Only | Spanning tenants and users, Entra ID tenants |

Every group is read only, because the Uniview API has no write.
